The sticker is higher. The week is cheaper.

An unleaded rental advertises a lower weekly rate, then charges you for every gallon on top. Ours does not move. Set your week below and watch which one actually costs less at today’s prices where you drive.

Gasoline is the U.S. average for regular unleaded from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) weekly retail price survey, week of 2 Nov 2026. EIA publishes weekly averages for nine states and regional averages elsewhere. Electricity is the U.S. residential average rate from EIA for Aug 2026, the latest month published.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is taken at 30 kWh per 100 miles and the Nissan Altima at 32 mpg. “A mix” charges 1.9× and “Mostly public” 3× the residential rate to stand in for public charging. The Movility EV is priced on its standard weekly plans: $389 a week with 1,000 miles or $409 a week with 1,500 miles. A comparable unleaded rental is $295 a week.
